Algiers, Algeria | January 10th, 2025 — Air Algérie has initiated the phased reception of eight leased aircraft to bolster its operational fleet, with the acquisition of 16 new planes scheduled to commence in June, announced Minister of Transport Saïd Sayoud.
During a public session at the People’s National Assembly on Thursday, Minister Sayoud confirmed the arrival of three out of the eight leased aircraft, stating: “We have received three of the leased planes and expect to receive another Airbus with high passenger capacity on January 15.”
He further elaborated on the timeline, indicating: “By the end of this month or early February, two additional aircraft will join the fleet, followed by another two in June.”
This strategic expansion, Sayoud emphasized, is aimed at meeting the increasing demand for both domestic and international flights, enhancing the national carrier’s service capabilities. The minister also highlighted that the first of the 16 newly acquired aircraft will be delivered starting June, with a total of six planes expected to be operational before the year’s end.
