With the reception of 16 new aircraft, Algeria’s national carrier strengthens its global network and accelerates its digital transformation to meet soaring passenger demand

Algiers, Algeria | April 28th, 2025 — As part of its ambitious expansion strategy, Air Algérie announced the launch of several new direct routes to key destinations across Africa and Asia, starting from the upcoming winter season 2025/2026. This major development was revealed by Hassania Kaoua, Commercial Director of Air Algérie, during a recent statement outlining the company’s strategic growth plan.

According to Kaoua, the imminent arrival of 16 new aircraft will empower Algeria’s flagship airline to inaugurate long-haul flights to dynamic cities such as Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Guangzhou (China). This bold move responds to the strong and growing demand from passengers eager for expanded international travel options.

Further strengthening its African network, Air Algérie is set to open new routes to N’Djamena (Chad), Zanzibar (Tanzania), and Libreville (Gabon). All flights will be operated directly from Houari Boumediene International Airport in Algiers, reinforcing the capital’s role as a vital regional and international air hub.

In addition to launching new destinations, Air Algérie plans to resume flights to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), a significant diplomatic center, and to increase flight frequency on the recently inaugurated route between Algiers and Abuja (Nigeria). This enhanced connectivity will serve not only to bolster commercial exchanges but also to facilitate broader cultural and political ties across Africa.

With this dynamic expansion, Air Algérie aims to transform Algiers into a fully integrated regional hub, seamlessly connecting Africa to Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East through its growing network.

The renewal of Air Algérie’s fleet is a cornerstone of this vision. The phased delivery of 16 state-of-the-art aircraft in the coming months will allow the company to modernize its services, meet the rising demand for air travel, and significantly increase its operational efficiency.

Parallel to these operational developments, Air Algérie is undergoing a profound digital transformation. The company is revamping its hand luggage management policies to minimize delays and optimize handling times, with an emphasis on digitizing baggage processing and upgrading service quality. A new interactive and user-friendly website will soon be launched, further enhancing the customer experience and offering seamless online services.

On the religious travel front, Kaoua proudly highlighted the success of the digitalization of the Hajj 2025 flight sales process. Conducted through an electronic portal launched by Algeria’s National Office of Pilgrimage and Umrah (ONPO), this initiative exemplifies Air Algérie’s commitment to modernizing its services and embracing innovation.
