ALGIERS- Air Algérie, the national airline, has announced a recent amendment to its baggage allowance policy, which was implemented on October 29.

In a press release, Air Algérie explained that the transition to the “concept piece” baggage allowance on October 29 necessitated an amendment to comply with the provisions of the collective agreement, specifically paragraph 6 on baggage allowance.

According to the amendment, article 513 states that “R” passengers will now enjoy an additional 10 kilograms of baggage allowance on Air Algérie flights compared to the standard allowance.

Furthermore, the company has also introduced a tolerance of 10 kilograms for free passenger (GP) holders, in addition to the initial ticket allowance, in accordance with the collective agreement.

It is important to note that on October 24, Air Algérie announced the transition from weight-based hold baggage to the concept of baggage in pieces, with the aim of modernizing its baggage policy to align with current airline practices across its flight network.
