This inaugural flight marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to foster friendship, cooperation, and economic development between the two nations, deepening their longstanding historical ties.
The inaugural flight was celebrated with a ceremony at Algiers International Airport. During the event, Mr. Mohamed El Habib Zahana, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, stood in for Minister Youcef Cherfa, emphasizing the pivotal role of this new flight route in cementing the relationship between Algeria and Cameroon.
Zahana stated, “The opening of a new air route between Algiers and Douala is a vital step in strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between Algeria and Cameroon. It reflects the commitment of our leaders to deepen the historical ties that unite our two countries.”
This new air link, established as part of the commitments made by both countries, holds the promise of revitalizing bilateral cooperation and creating fresh opportunities for collaboration across various sectors, especially in the fields of economics and commerce. Furthermore, it is set to facilitate the free movement of people and goods between the two nations, a development that will undoubtedly have far-reaching positive impacts on both Algeria and Cameroon.
Mr. Zahana also expressed his hope that Cameroonian airlines would reciprocate by introducing a direct flight route connecting Douala to Algiers. Algeria’ strategic location makes Algiers International Airport an ideal candidate to serve as a hub for travel to major international capitals. This vision aligns with Algeria’s broader goals of becoming a global aviation hub.
The inauguration ceremony of this inaugural flight was attended by key dignitaries and representatives from both countries. Among the notable guests were Mr. Boukemmache Abdallah, the Algerian Ambassador to Cameroon, and executives from Air Algérie, travel, and tourism agencies on the Algerian side. On the Cameroonian side, the event was graced by the presence of Ambassador Komidor Hamidou Njimoluh and officials from the Cameroonian Ministry of Transport.
