ALGIERS- During the Ramadan and Eid period from March 10th to April 13th, 2024, Air Algérie, the national carrier of Algeria, experienced a significant uptick in ticket sales for international flights inbound to Algeria. This year, ticket sales surged to 47,791, marking a substantial increase from the previous year’s figure of 31,143. The notable surge in ticket sales was evident in reservations made from January 29th to March 24th, 2024, originating from different French cities, primarily due to the high presence of the Algerian expatriate community.
This notable increase in sales, as per a press release from the Algerian company, is attributed to the airline’s implementation of substantial price reductions, in line with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The President’s directive aimed to facilitate the return of Algerians residing abroad for Ramadan and Eid, entailing discounts of up to 50% on ticket fares.
The significant uptick of approximately 17,000 tickets sold this year compared to the previous year underscores Air Algérie’s commitment to meeting the travel needs of the Algerian community and facilitating their travel arrangements.
