ALGIERS- Air Algérie has taken a significant step towards expanding its fleet with the acquisition of seven Airbus aircraft. The national airline signed a contract with the European aeronautical manufacturer, Airbus, in Algiers on Wednesday. The signing ceremony was attended by Air Algérie’s General Manager, Yassine Benslimane, and a representative of Airbus.
Under the terms of the contract, Airbus will supply Air Algérie with seven type 2 Airbus A350-1000 XWB and five Airbus A330-900NEO aircraft. Additionally, four Airbus A330CEOs and two A330-900NEOs will join the leased fleet. This acquisition follows Air Algérie’s recent contract signing with American manufacturer Boeing for the purchase of eight medium-carrier aircraft.
The acquisition of 15 new aircraft by Air Algérie is in line with the President of the Republic’s decision to authorize the airline to acquire 15 aircraft during the meeting of ministers held on May 8, 2022. The aim is to open new routes, particularly to countries in Africa and Asia.
This significant investment in Air Algérie’s fleet is a testament to the airline’s commitment to providing its passengers with a world-class travel experience. With the addition of these new aircraft, Air Algérie is poised to expand its reach and enhance its reputation as a leading airline in the region.
