ALGIERS- Airbus has identified Air Algérie as a major company and a privileged partner, following the signing of a contract on Wednesday for the acquisition of seven jumbo jets. This deal represents one of the largest contracts of its kind signed in the Maghreb and Africa region, and will enable the modernization of national air transport, as well as boost economic and tourist development in the country.
Air Algérie will be one of only two companies operating with this type of aircraft in Africa, alongside Ethiopian Airlines. The acquisition of the 330 Neo and the 350-1000, the largest aircraft operating in Africa today, will allow Airbus and Algeria to pursue the development of air transport, as well as economic and tourist development.
This order will provide Air Algérie with the flexibility of the Airbus range, enabling the airline to strengthen its regional services and offer an ambitious program of transcontinental destinations.
Air Algérie is set to reap the benefits of operational savings by operating the A330neo alongside the A350-1000, according to Airbus. The European manufacturer highlights that the airline will enjoy a reduction in fuel consumption of around 25 percent per seat, as well as greater flexibility generated by the unique commonality of Airbus among the members of its aircraft family.
In addition to these operational savings, the A330neo and A350 boast award-winning Airspace cabins, which offer passengers a high level of comfort, ambience, and design. These cabins provide more individual space, enlarged overhead storage bins, a new lighting system, and access to the latest in-flight entertainment and connection systems.
The A330neo and A350 are the latest generation of Airbus jumbo jets. The A330neo family is equipped with the latest generation of Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, and the A330-900 is capable of flying 7,200 nm / 13,334 km non-stop. By the end of April 2023, the A330 Family had received 1,775 firm orders from 130 customers worldwide, making it the most successful wide-body family of all time, dominating the short to medium-haul widebody market.
The A350 Family is the world’s most modern and long-haul market leader, featuring Rolls-Royce’s new Trent XWB engines, which are the world’s most efficient wide-body engines to date, capable of 8,700 nautical miles or 16,100 kilometers non-stop. By the end of April 2023, the A350 Family had received 967 firm orders from 54 customers worldwide, making it one of the most successful wide-body aircraft of all time.
