Algiers, Algeria | October 7th, 2024 — In a recent statement, Youcef Hamdane, the representative of the Hamas resistance movement in Algeria, declared that the ongoing “Al-Aqsa Flood” battle continues to follow in the footsteps of Algeria’s revolutionary past. Speaking on the occasion of the first anniversary of the October 7th, 2023, offensive, Hamdane emphasized that this Palestinian struggle mirrors the sacrifice and determination seen during Algeria’s fight for independence.

The declaration was made during a conference titled “The Future of the Al-Aqsa Flood Battle and its Repercussions on the Region,” held at the headquarters of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP) in Algiers. Hamdane expressed that without the decisive battle launched a year ago, the Palestinian cause might have faded from global attention.

The Palestinian Cause in the Global Spotlight

Hamdane stressed that ongoing attempts by the Zionist entity to Judaize Al-Aqsa Mosque, expand settlements in the West Bank, and commit continued crimes against Palestinian prisoners have compelled Palestinian resistance movements to adopt strategies reminiscent of Algeria’s iconic revolution. “The decision of October 7, 2023, altered the course of history,” Hamdane stated, “placing the Palestinian cause firmly in the international spotlight.” He argued that the spirit of resistance, much like in Algeria’s past, continues to drive the Palestinian people toward freedom.

An Enduring Struggle for Liberation

Hamdane reaffirmed that the Palestinian people would persevere in their heroic resistance, irrespective of the sacrifices required, with a firm belief that “what was taken by force can only be reclaimed by force.” He further highlighted that the myth of an invincible Zionist state had been shattered by the battle.

Dr. Mohamed Mohcen Saleh, director of the Beirut-based Center for Consultations and Strategic Studies, echoed these sentiments, noting that despite the criminal entity’s targeted destruction of infrastructure and attempts at forced displacement, the Palestinian resistance remains unbroken. He urged both the international community and the Arab world to move beyond rhetoric and support Palestine through concrete action.

Al-Aqsa Flood as the Catalyst for Liberation

MSP President Abdelaali Hassani Cherif reiterated that the struggle in Palestine extends beyond its borders, becoming a cause that unites the entire Arab and Muslim world. Drawing parallels between Algeria’s historic revolution and the Palestinian fight for freedom, Cherif hailed the “Al-Aqsa Flood” as a pivotal starting point in the broader battle for liberation.

He further lauded Algeria’s influential role at the United Nations Security Council, where it continues to champion resolutions aimed at curbing Zionist violations and standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people.

This renewed alignment between the Palestinian resistance and the legacy of Algeria’s revolution serves as a reminder of the enduring nature of struggles for self-determination and sovereignty across the Arab world.
