The European Energy Portal recognizes Algeria as a model to follow, stating, “The country is now focusing on energy efficiency, recognizing its growing importance in ensuring economic stability, environmental sustainability, and energy security.”
Algeria has set significant objectives for the future, targeting climate and economic benefits through the development of clean energy sources with reduced greenhouse gas emissions. This decision not only ensures sustainable energy security but also acts as a catalyst for economic growth and the financing of development programs.
In essence, Algeria is striving for “green growth” at a low cost. This aligns with the government’s program aimed at controlling the development process of renewable energies and achieving energy efficiency by rationalizing the country’s ever-increasing energy consumption, based on scientific research and innovation in the renewable energy sector.
Why has Algeria embarked on this path? The European Energy Portal offers several logical explanations. Firstly, Algeria’s commitment to energy efficiency stems from the growth in local demand driven by population growth and industrialization over the years.
