Algiers, Algeria | July 16th, 2024 — The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Algeria, Mrs. Janna Van Der Velde, praised Algeria as “a trustworthy partner” for her country on Monday.
Strong Relations and Cooperative Fields
In a statement following her meeting with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, marking the end of her mission in Algeria, Mrs. Van Der Velde emphasized the “strong relations” and shared fields of cooperation between Algeria and the Netherlands.
A Potential Partner for Green Hydrogen Development
After expressing gratitude to President Tebboune for his “warm welcome” and “clear interest” in strengthening bilateral cooperation, the Ambassador discussed the central importance of sustainable development for both nations. She highlighted the agri-food sector, where “solid partnerships” exist between companies from both countries. “We are also working with the Algerian government on the agricultural cooperation project, which has allowed us to bring expertise to sustainable production systems,” she added.
Mrs. Van Der Velde further noted that “given Algeria’s current status as a reliable supplier and our shared experience as gas-producing countries, we see Algeria as a partner with great potential for the development of green hydrogen.”
Addressing Common Challenges
The Dutch Ambassador expressed hope that the partnership between Algeria and the Netherlands would strengthen to mitigate the effects of climate change. She also mentioned the cooperation between Algerian and Dutch universities and the exchange of experiences, particularly in the field of entrepreneurship.
“In Algeria, today’s youth have the courage to pursue their dreams and create their own businesses,” she said, expressing her country’s readiness to support these young entrepreneurs, especially through the “Orange Corners” program. The Ambassador also pointed out that Algeria and the Netherlands “share a strong commitment to strengthening our multilateral framework to address common challenges.” Finally, she shared her positive experience in Algeria, noting the “beauty of the country and the warm hospitality of the Algerians.”
These remarks underscore the deepening ties and expanding areas of cooperation between Algeria and the Netherlands, paving the way for a promising future of shared progress and mutual support.
