ALGIERS- In a commemorative event marking the 35th anniversary of the declaration of the State of Palestine in Algeria, the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Laïd Rebigua emphasized that Algeria’s steadfast positions on the Palestinian issue will be enshrined in history for generations to come.
Minister Rebigua, addressing the gathering, highlighted the historical and geographical significance of the declaration of the State of Palestine in Algeria. He likened the November 1954 revolution to an epic achievement and an honorable path in overcoming oppression, liberating humanity, and reclaiming homelands.
Referring to Palestine and its ongoing struggle, Rebigua stated, “Algeria considers the Palestinian people and their continuous revolution an integral part of our nation’s destiny.” He praised Algeria’s consistent stance, as expressed by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in international and regional forums, condemning the heinous crimes of the Zionist occupation and calling for an end to the Israeli aggression.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Algeria, Fayez Abu Aita, recalled the moments of the establishment of the State of Palestine under the leadership of the late Yasser Arafat. He acknowledged Algeria as the launching pad for the Palestinian revolution, pledging to walk the path of the martyrs and continue the journey until liberation and return.
Abu Aita commended President Tebboune’s stance against Western attempts to criminalize Palestinian resistance, quoting him as saying, “The Palestinian people are not terrorists and will not be labeled as such.”
The closing statement of the event reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and expressed unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to freedom, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
The statement also endorsed President Tebboune’s call for an international inquiry into the described crimes, seeking to bring Israeli war criminals to the International Criminal Court.
Emphasizing the need to protect occupied Palestine, its sacred sites, and defending it against rejected and condemned attempts to alter its demographic, Arab-Islamic identity, and the existing legal and historical status, the gathering concluded with a call for continued efforts in safeguarding the Palestinian cause.
