Algeria and the EU renew their common will to strengthen partnership relations in the energy field

Algeria and the European Union (EU) renewed, during the 4th annual meeting of the high-level political dialogue on energy, held Monday in Algiers, their common will to strengthen partnership relations in the energy field.

In a statement to the press after the meeting, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab affirmed that “the two parties have renewed their common will to strengthen relations in the field of energy, through the continuation of exchanges and consultations within the framework of expert working groups, on the subject of natural gas and the prospects for the development of infrastructures and electricity, in particular electrical connection, new and renewable energies and the ‘energetic efficiency”.

Mr. Arkab invited companies from EU States to “seize all opportunities” to continue to develop the partnership with Algeria, through investments based on the “win-win” principle, recalling in this context that the work of the second forum between Algeria and the EU in the field of energy would be organized on Tuesday, and would represent “concrete work carried out, testifying to the dynamics of this cooperation”.

During this meeting, co-chaired by the Minister of Energy and Mines, and the European Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, the two parties discussed means of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, where was reaffirmed that “Algeria is a strategic, reliable and credible partner in terms of energy supply”, indicated Mr. Arkab.

The two parties reviewed during an extended meeting between the two delegations, the state of bilateral cooperation and the strategic partnership between Algeria and the EU.

This meeting made it possible to discuss subjects of common interest, in particular those relating to the encouragement of investments in the field of hydrocarbons, upstream and downstream, the development of green hydrogen and the prospects for future cooperation. , capable of reducing greenhouse gases.
