Algiers, Algeria | September 23rd, 2024 — The governments of Malta and Egypt have formally approved the appointments of Algeria’s new ambassadors, underscoring a strengthened commitment to diplomatic ties. Mohamed Khelifi has been appointed as Algeria’s ambassador to the Republic of Malta, with residence in Rome, while Mohamed Sofiane Berrah will assume the role of ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt. These appointments were confirmed in separate announcements by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad on Monday.
The Maltese government granted its approval for Khelifi’s nomination as Algeria’s extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Malta, highlighting the deepening of ties between the two Mediterranean nations. Khelifi, who will reside in Rome, is expected to work on further enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and regional security.
In parallel, the Egyptian government has approved the appointment of Mohamed Sofiane Berrah as Algeria’s ambassador to Egypt. Berrah’s role will be crucial in bolstering the long-standing relationship between Algeria and Egypt.
