Algiers, Algeria | December 19th, 2024 — Algeria has been honored with the presidency of the African Aikido Federation and the distinction of hosting its headquarters. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the country in the global sports arena, particularly in martial arts. The new president of the federation, Nacer Rouibah, was officially welcomed by the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Walid Sadi, in a ceremony held on Thursday.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Minister Sadi praised Rouibah’s exceptional career, acknowledging his pivotal role in the development and expansion of Aikido practice in Algeria. His tireless efforts in promoting the sport have earned him the position of president of the African Aikido Confederation, which will now be headquartered in Algiers. The Minister further expressed pride in the fact that Algeria, known for its rich sports history, continues to solidify its leadership role in the continent’s martial arts landscape.
This achievement is a testament to Algeria’s ongoing commitment to promoting sports excellence and fostering regional and international partnerships in various athletic disciplines.
