Algeria Assumes Presidency of African Geopolitical Group in Inter-Parliamentary Union

ALGIERS- Algeria, led by Moundir Bouden, Vice-Speaker of the People’s National Assembly and member of the High-Level Advisory Group on Combating Terrorism and Violent Extremism within the Inter-Parliamentary Union, has emerged victorious in securing the presidency of the African Geopolitical Group for the term 2023-2024. This prestigious position has been passed on from Tanzania to Algeria.
In a statement released by the People’s National Assembly, it was announced that Moundir Bouden had been entrusted with the presidency during the group’s meeting on Thursday, October 26, 2023. This gathering took place in conjunction with the 147th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and its accompanying events.
It is noteworthy that the Inter-Parliamentary Union has designated “Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions” as the central theme for discussion during this year’s Assembly activities.
By assuming the presidency of the African Geopolitical Group, Algeria has solidified its position as a key player within the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
