ALGIERS- President Abdelmadjid Tebboune reiterated Algeria’s stance on the Libyan issue during Monday’s meeting of the high-level committee of the African Union (AU) on Libya in Brazzaville, the capital of Congo. The President, represented by Prime Minister Nadir Labaoui, emphasized that the crisis in Libya is a result of foreign interference and conflicts of interest involving local and foreign powers.
President Tebboune urged the Libyan people to take control of their destiny, overcome internal deadlock, and address the political impasse by establishing Libyan-led initiatives and exercising their right to choose legitimate representatives.
He also renewed the call for foreign parties involved in Libya to support this process and respect the country’s sovereignty, emphasizing that the ultimate solution to the issue lies with the sovereign Libyan people. President Tebboune underscored the importance of ending foreign military presence in Libya and the departure of mercenaries, regardless of their affiliations.
“Algeria rejects any interference in the affairs of the Libyan people and calls for respect for its national sovereignty. Algeria will support the efforts of all concerned parties to ensure peace and security in this sisterly country, aiming for elections and reconciliation,” stated President Tebboune.
