Algiers, Algeria | December 21st, 2024 — Algiers hosted a new diplomatic engagement today, as Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, the National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, welcomed Logon Mbila Mbila, the Minister of External Relations of Cameroon. The meeting marked a significant milestone in the framework of Cameroon’s official visit to Algeria, reflecting the deep-rooted fraternity between the two nations.
During his visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, the Cameroonian Minister engaged in bilateral discussions with his Algerian counterpart. These dialogues were followed by an expanded working session, where both sides examined the longstanding ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and solidarity binding Algeria and Cameroon.
The discussions were centered on advancing these relations to unprecedented levels, in alignment with the vision of the two countries’ leaders, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Paul Biya of Cameroon. The deliberations also explored avenues to enhance collaboration across economic, political, and social dimensions, emphasizing mutual growth and stability.
A Commitment to Peace, Security, and Development in Africa
The two ministers reaffirmed their commitment to fostering traditions of mutual consultation, particularly regarding evolving regional and global dynamics. They underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to address shared concerns, including peace, security, and development across the African continent.
In a testament to their countries’ prominent roles on the international stage, the discussions highlighted Algeria’s position as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and Cameroon’s presidency of the United Nations General Assembly. Both ministers emphasized the need for stronger cooperation within the United Nations framework to effectively tackle challenges and uphold the interests of African nations.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to fortify Algerian-Cameroonian relations, leveraging their shared vision to navigate contemporary challenges. The discussions underscored a unified stance against the backdrop of complex global and regional developments, emphasizing the strategic importance of solidarity and collaboration.
