ALGIERS- Algeria and Cameroon signed, on Monday in Algiers, a framework cooperation agreement in the fields of transport and meteorology.
The agreement was signed by the Minister of Transport, Youcef Cherfa, with his Cameroonian counterpart, Jean Ernest Masséna. The aim of the agreement is to establish a framework for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of research, knowledge exchange, and training.
Cherfa emphasized that this agreement comes two years after the signing of an agreement between the two countries for the opening of an airline between Algeria and Cameroon. The goal is to make the International Airport Houari Boumediene of Algiers a hub linking Cameroonian airports to those of Europe. The Cameroonian minister stressed that his visit will strengthen cooperation in all sectors of transport.
The framework agreement covers several areas of cooperation, including the establishment of a legal framework that can strengthen trade between the two countries, particularly in the areas of air and maritime transport. It also provides for the encouragement of the establishment of cooperation between research and training institutes in the field of transport and meteorology.
This agreement is a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between Algeria and Cameroon. It will promote knowledge exchange and training, which will ultimately benefit both countries. The establishment of a legal framework for trade will also facilitate the movement of goods and services between the two countries. Overall, this agreement is a positive development for both Algeria and Cameroon.
