Algeria Condemns Zionist Operation in Rafah with “Great Firmness”

Algiers- Algeria, May 7, 2024 – Algeria issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday against the Zionist military operations conducted in the city of Rafah, situated in the southern Gaza Strip, as part of preparations for a potential ground invasion of this Palestinian territory.
In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was emphasized that this escalation poses an extremely dangerous threat, with the potential for causing unprecedented casualties and a significant humanitarian crisis. The statement underscored that these actions reaffirm the Zionist occupation’s intention to eradicate the Palestinian population and forcibly displace what little remains of it.
Furthermore, the statement highlighted the disregard shown by the occupying forces towards the international community’s consensus on the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. It also stressed the necessity of initiating a political process aimed at establishing an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, seen as a just, permanent, and definitive solution to the Palestinian-Zionist conflict.
Algeria’s statement called upon the international community to take urgent and decisive measures to pressure the occupying power and to cease providing it with the means and justifications for its continued coercion, tyranny, and relentless persecution of innocent Palestinians over the past seven months.
The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs further warned of the grave consequences of the Zionist entity’s ongoing aggression against Palestinians in Gaza, particularly the potential for a significant escalation with a ground invasion of Rafah. It emphasized that such actions would have extremely serious repercussions, endangering the future of peace and security in the entire region for many decades to come.
