Algeria, Cuba Strengthen Historic Military Ties

The official welcoming ceremony was marked by military honors, including the national flag salute and a review by a military formation representing the various ANP branches. The discussions between the two delegations highlighted the evolving global security environment and the shared responsibility of Algeria and Cuba in addressing emerging challenges. Both sides emphasized the importance of bolstering cooperation to meet these challenges, focusing on avenues to deepen the Algeria-Cuba partnership.

In his address, General Chanegriha praised the historic bonds between Algeria and Cuba, describing them as “deep and distinguished by enduring friendships, shared values, and principles that have paved the way for an exemplary bilateral cooperation based on solidarity, support for oppressed peoples, and commitment to just causes, notably the Sahrawi and Palestinian questions.” He underscored that both Algeria and Cuba, as members of the Non-Aligned Movement, share an unwavering commitment to safeguarding the interests of developing nations, reflecting a unified stance against global polarization.

“The stances of both countries within the Non-Aligned Movement reveal a harmonious alignment rooted in a shared awareness of the necessity for a global movement that protects the interests of developing nations and rejects polarity,” said General Chanegriha. He highlighted the significant contributions of Algeria and Cuba to the movement, which remain relevant today in the face of current geopolitical shifts.

Reaffirming the continuity and expansion of Algerian-Cuban collaboration, General Chanegriha noted, “Relations between our countries continue to evolve through consistent consultations, coordinated positions on matters of mutual interest, and the enhancement of multidimensional cooperation.” This cooperation, he emphasized, spans the political, economic, and human development domains, including health, culture, sciences, and sports.

Reflecting on Algeria’s commitment to strategic alignment with Cuba, General Chanegriha added, “Within the ANP, we are actively implementing the strategic visions of our respective leaders, aiming to elevate our military partnership by fostering a new dynamic in military cooperation and establishing the necessary mechanisms to bring this partnership to fruition.”

Expressing his appreciation, General Joaquin Quintas Sola conveyed his enthusiasm for visiting Algeria, acknowledging “the strong determination observed in General Chanegriha, ANP Chief of Staff, to reinforce bilateral military relations and elevate them to the level of the aspirations held by the leaders of our two friendly countries, laying the groundwork for mutually beneficial cooperation.”

The meeting concluded with the symbolic exchange of gifts, and General Quintas Sola signed the guest book, leaving a mark of appreciation for the collaborative and visionary spirit guiding Algeria-Cuba relations. This milestone in bilateral cooperation signifies the countries’ commitment to a robust alliance that adapts to contemporary demands, strengthening their united front on both security and development fronts.
