ALGIERS-

Brussels, July 20, 2023 – The second session of the Algeria-European Union Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) is scheduled to take place on November 9, 2023, in Brussels, Belgium. This decision follows a successful videoconference meeting held on Thursday between Ahmed Temamri, the president of the Algeria-EU joint parliamentary committee, and Matjaž Nemec, the newly appointed head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Maghreb.

The first session of the JPC, held on September 19 in Algiers, marked a significant milestone as both parties adopted a joint declaration emphasizing the imperative to strengthen bilateral relations in key areas of cooperation, including energy transition, economic diversification, and business development.

Furthermore, both parties have agreed to resume collaborative efforts from next September, allowing ample time to develop comprehensive proposals and recommendations. This approach ensures that the outcomes of the committee’ sessions are well-informed, effective, and truly beneficial for both Algeria and the European Union.

The upcoming session in Brussels presents a valuable opportunity to explore new avenues of cooperation, strengthen partnerships, and find innovative solutions to pressing global issues. Energy transition and economic diversification are particularly critical areas that hold the key to a sustainable and prosperous future for both regions.
