ALGIERS- The coordination meeting between the members of the Algeria-European Union joint parliamentary committee took place on Monday, under the leadership of Ahmed Temamri, the committee’s president. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the national community abroad were also present.
The primary objective of the meeting was to ensure proper preparation for the upcoming second session of the commission, scheduled to be held in Brussels on November 9. This preparation is crucial, considering the evolving political landscape worldwide.
It is worth noting that a videoconference was held between Ahmed Temamri and Matjaž Nemec, the newly appointed head of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Maghreb, to discuss the second session.
During the first session of the “Algeria-EU” Joint Parliamentary Commission (CPM) held on September 19 in Algiers, a joint declaration was adopted. This declaration emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation between the EU and Algeria in various areas, including energy transition, economic diversification, and business development.
Both parties expressed their commitment to enhancing parliamentary relations and promoting dialogue and consultation. They also emphasized the significance of adhering to the pre-established program, referring to the recent resolution of the European Parliament on press freedom in Algeria.
In conclusion, the coordination meeting served as a platform to discuss the necessary preparations for the upcoming session in Brussels. The commitment to strengthening relations between Algeria and the European Union, as well as the focus on key areas of cooperation, demonstrates the shared vision for a prosperous partnership.
