Algiers, Algeria | May 28, 2024 — Algeria has launched an export operation, sending 46,000 tons of cement to the United States, as part of a broader strategy to diversify its export portfolio. This initiative was overseen by Minister of Trade Tayeb Zitouni during a working visit to the Annaba province.

Upon his arrival at the port of Annaba, Minister Zitouni oversaw the loading and dispatch of 46,000 tons of cement produced by the Algerian company SILAS. This operation is a crucial step in Algeria’s efforts to penetrate new markets and enhance its international economic footprint.
Minister Zitouni emphasized that this export demonstrates the Algerian government’s commitment to expanding and diversifying its exports. “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to develop and diversify Algerian exports to foreign markets,” he stated. He also highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting exporting companies and streamlining administrative procedures to foster sector growth.
This initiative is not only a significant milestone for the cement industry but also an encouraging sign for other sectors aiming to expand their global reach. The operation included the export of construction materials as well as various food products, underscoring the wide range of Algerian goods ready for the international market.
During his visit to Annaba, Minister Zitouni engaged with local economic operators, reinforcing the collaborative efforts between the government and private enterprises. The objective is to create an enabling environment for exporters, ensuring they have the necessary support and resources to succeed in competitive global markets.
