Algeria Expresses Readiness to Boost Relations with Iran During Diplomatic Meeting

ALGIERS- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, welcomed members of the Algeria-Iran parliamentary friendship group in Tehran, as stated in a press release from the People’s National Assembly (APN).
During the meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran, Minister Abdollahian expressed his desire for “parliamentary diplomacy to continue playing a pivotal role in strengthening relations between the two countries,” according to the statement. Acknowledging the positive dynamics in bilateral relations, the Iranian Foreign Minister praised “the significant role of the Speaker of the APN, Ibrahim Boughali, and the Parliament in supporting the just Palestinian cause,” reaffirming “Iran’s unwavering position on this issue.”
Moussa Kherfi, the President of the Algeria-Iran parliamentary friendship group, conveyed condolences for the terrorist attack in Kerman, expressing “Algeria’s solidarity with the Iranian people in this tragedy.” Discussing bilateral relations, Kherfi acknowledged the recent positive trend and referred to discussions between Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raïssi during the 78th UN General Assembly.
Emphasizing that “Iran is a fraternal country,” Kherfi stated that “Algeria is ready, politically and legally, to develop and strengthen relations in the best interests of both countries and peoples.” He also highlighted a “strong willingness to promote cooperation at the highest levels, especially in the fields of agriculture, health, and energy.”
Addressing the Palestinian issue, Kherfi asserted that it is “a central cause for Algeria, which paid a heavy price for its freedom, with 45,000 martyrs in the events of May 8, 1945, and one and a half million martyrs in the glorious War of National Liberation.” He reaffirmed that “Algeria, both the government and the people, supports the Palestinian people,” noting that “APN deputies and officials did not hesitate to make donations in support of their brothers in occupied Palestine.”
The meeting concluded with the President of the Algeria-Iran parliamentary friendship group, Mr. Kherfi, signing the golden register of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, simultaneously praising “the level of relations between the two countries.”
