Algiers, Algeria | May 25, 2024 — The Front of the Socialist Forces (FFS), one of Algeria’s oldest opposition parties, has confirmed its participation in the upcoming presidential election scheduled for September 7. This decision was revealed by the party’s Secretary General, Youcef Aouchiche, during a press conference held on the sidelines of the party’s extraordinary national council meeting in Algiers on Saturday.
Unanimous Decision to Enter the Presidential Race
During the conference, Aouchiche highlighted that the resolution to participate in the presidential race was proposed by the national secretariat and received unanimous approval from all members of the party’s national council. This consensus underscores the united front and strategic direction of the FFS as it prepares to engage in the electoral process.
“The decision to participate in the upcoming election was adopted unanimously by the national council,” Aouchiche announced. “The identity of our candidate will be disclosed during an extraordinary congress to be held soon.”
