Algiers, Algeria | February 6th, 2025 — Algeria has categorically rejected any plan aimed at displacing or emptying Gaza of its population, reaffirming its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and condemning any initiative that seeks to undermine Palestinian sovereignty. In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced attempts to strike at the heart of the Palestinian national project, warning against broader schemes that could threaten the stability of the region.
This stance comes at a critical juncture, as negotiations enter their second phase to consolidate the fragile ceasefire in Gaza and address the lingering devastation left by the war. Amid these efforts, U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statements, widely criticized by the international community, have further inflamed tensions. Algeria expressed its deep concern over these declarations, emphasizing the urgent need for sustained mediation backed by broad international support to ensure a lasting truce and the full implementation of ceasefire agreements.
The Algerian Foreign Ministry reiterated that achieving a just and enduring peace in the Middle East is intrinsically linked to securing the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It reaffirmed Algeria’s firm commitment to the internationally recognized two-state solution, stressing that the only path to stability lies in the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
In this context, Algeria underscored the necessity of maintaining the territorial unity of Gaza, the West Bank, and occupied El Quds as an integral part of the Palestinian national project. Any attempt to erase, fragment, or dismantle this project, the statement warned, would only serve to prolong the conflict, exacerbate the suffering of the Palestinian people, and heighten insecurity across the region.
Algeria’s resolute stance aligns with its long-standing foreign policy of defending just causes and rejecting any form of occupation or forced displacement. It called upon the international community to take decisive action to prevent the implementation of such plans and to uphold the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people in their struggle for self-determination.
