Algeria follows “continuously” the situation of its nationals in Ukraine

The Algerian authorities are monitoring with “great attention and continuously the situation of our nationals in Ukraine”, in the light of the security developments prevailing in this country and all human and material resources have been mobilized for their care, said Sunday a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.

The Ministry specifies that it has set up a crisis unit and “mobilized human and material resources for the follow-up of our nationals in Ukraine where the Algerian embassy is working to ensure direct and indirect interactions with our compatriots located in different cities and regions of the country”.

At the same time, the Algerian diplomatic apparatus in Ukraine and in neighboring countries is fully mobilized to provide assistance to nationals who reach the borders of neighboring countries of Ukraine.

From February 12, recalls the same source, the Algerian Embassy in Kiev launched an appeal to members of the national community in Ukraine “to better protect themselves against the deterioration of the situation in this country”. A toll-free number (0800-500068) has been set up.

“Our diplomatic representations in Poland and Romania have taken the necessary steps to facilitate the entry of our nationals from Ukraine. Ultimately, the Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Moldovan authorities have all confirmed that foreign residents in Ukraine can go to the four countries without a visa but with a valid passport”, adds the ministry which “strongly recommends” to the members of the community wishing to leave Ukraine and not provided with valid travel documents to take attachment with the Algerian Embassy in Kiev for the establishment of emergency passports.

The Algerian embassies in Bucharest, Budapest and Warsaw “are mobilized to welcome and support our nationals from Ukraine”, notes the press release, which adds that several compatriots have already presented themselves to the level of these embassies and are currently being duly assisted and that “practical arrangements will shortly be made by our embassies for the purpose of the repatriation to Algeria” of nationals from neighboring countries of Ukraine.
