Algiers, Algeria | May 23, 2024 — As the presidential election, scheduled for September 7th, approaches, the national political scene in Algeria is beginning to stir, with various political initiatives emerging.
This Thursday, four political parties announced the establishment of a joint committee with the objective of “building a strong grassroots base and proposing political initiatives to contribute to the process of economic and social development.”
The initiative was unveiled during a meeting that brought together the Secretary-General of the National Liberation Front (FLN), Mr. Abdelkrim Benmbarek, the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally (RND), Mr. Mustapha Yahi, the President of the Front El Moustakbal, Mr. Fateh Boutbig, and the President of the El Bina Movement, Mr. Abdelkader Bengrina.
Speaking on this occasion, the Secretary-General of the FLN assured that this joint committee aims to study all important issues: “Our alliance is not temporary and is not solely linked to the upcoming election but will have future dimensions.”
“Our role will be to mobilize the people and encourage voters to exercise their right to a free and democratic vote. We aim to establish serious and respectful political work and a climate of fair competition,” added the leader of the veteran party.
