Algiers – In a notable diplomatic gesture, Stéphane Romatet, the newly appointed French ambassador to Algeria, marked the commencement of his tenure with a profound acknowledgment of the remarkable connection between Algeria and France, characterizing their relationship as one of “exceptional density.”
Presenting his letters of credence to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune in Algiers on Wednesday, Ambassador Romatet advocated for a “confident dialogue” to tackle the major challenges that intersect their shared environment.
“In my conversation with President Tebboune, I conveyed France’s perspective on its relationship with Algeria,” stated Mr. Romatet, underscoring that it is “a relationship of exceptional density, forged by geography, history, and the compelling demands of our shared future. France and Algeria are bound together inextricably.”
Highlighting the multifaceted connections between the two nations, he observed, “The depth of human relations and the interdependence of our societies underscore how much binds our countries together.”
Ambassador Romatet further stressed the importance of “initiating a confident dialogue between the two nations to address the significant challenges that shape our operating environment.”
Moreover, he underscored “the imperative of nurturing a close relationship between our countries, constructing a shared agenda, and leveraging Algeria’s presence on the United Nations Security Council to amplify discussions on vital political issues.”
