ALGIERS- On the eve of the 5th Algerian-German Energy Day, scheduled for tomorrow, Monday, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received a German delegation on Sunday to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy, particularly hydrogen and energy efficiency.
According to the ministry’ statement, the German delegation was led by Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK), Mr. Stefan Wenzel. Also present were Elisabeth Wolbers, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Algeria, and Thomas Eckert, Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Algiers.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed possibilities for strengthening cooperative relations through mutually beneficial partnership projects, particularly in the development, transportation, and commercialization of green hydrogen, as well as reducing carbon footprint and emissions through Sonatrach and the German VNG companies.
“Germany is willing to explore all opportunities”
Electrical interconnection, exchange of expertise and experiences, as well as training, were also at the center of discussions between the two parties.
Arkab reiterated Algeria’s commitment to realizing this cooperation through the implementation of mutually beneficial joint projects, while Mr. Wenzel emphasized the interest shown by German companies in the Algerian market and expressed the German side’s willingness to explore all available opportunities to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve the desired objectives of both parties.
