ALGIERS- Algeria has been selected as the guest of honor at the upcoming 29th Beijing International Book Fair, which will take place from June 15 to 18 in Beijing, China. This decision was made in honor of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Algiers and Beijing. The Algerian Ambassador to China, Hassen Rabhi, announced this exciting news at a press briefing.
The Algerian pavilion will occupy an impressive 500 square meters and will showcase 814 titles, including literature, art, novels, poetry, humanities, and natural sciences. The event is expected to attract 1,500 publishing houses and related institutions from 56 countries and regions, with over 200,000 books from around the world being exhibited. Of the 1,500 participants, 60% will be foreign exhibitors, making it a truly international event.
This year’s book fair will also feature an exhibition on online publishing, highlighting new forms of publishing such as online literature and games. This is a first for the event and is sure to attract a lot of attention.
At the end of the book fair, 1,769 books will be distributed to various Chinese cultural institutions, universities, and libraries. This is a wonderful opportunity for Algeria to showcase its rich literary culture and strengthen its ties with China.
