Over 100 Tech Giants and Startups from 12 Countries Converge at SAFEX for the Continent’s Largest Innovation and Digital Transformation Event
Algiers, Algeria | April 21st, 2025 — Algiers has officially taken center stage as Africa’s undisputed digital capital, launching the highly anticipated ICT Africa Summit 2025 today at the Palais des Expositions (SAFEX) in Pins Maritimes. This three-day continental event—running through April 23—is set to revolutionize the technological landscape of Africa, uniting over 100 cutting-edge companies and visionary startups from 12 countries under one roof.
The summit, designed as the largest technological event on the continent, has drawn a wide array of international and national tech leaders, innovators, and government officials. It provides a dynamic platform for high-level conferences, live demonstrations, and strategic networking sessions aimed at accelerating Africa’s digital transformation. The event is marked by the unprecedented synergy of three major forums: the Digital Africa Summit, ICT Maghreb, and Alvetic, bringing together expertise across diverse sectors and setting the tone for continental innovation.
Opening this monumental gathering, organizers underscored Algeria’s ambitions to emerge as a continental leader in innovation, research, and digital advancement. With strong governmental backing, particularly through President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s strategic vision, the country is advancing toward its goal of building a knowledge-based, high-tech economy. As a testament to this commitment, Algeria has witnessed a comprehensive overhaul in its technological infrastructure and human capital development.
Significantly, Algeria has launched key national institutions such as the National School of Artificial Intelligence, the National School of Mathematics, and has prioritized the integration of scientific and digital studies in its educational system. To complement these academic initiatives, the country established numerous support structures including the Algerian Startup Fund (ASF), Algeria Venture (AV), and the National Agency for Self-Entrepreneurs (Anae)—all designed to incubate and accelerate technological innovation.
These efforts have already borne fruit. Algeria currently ranks second in Africa in terms of the number of startups, with nearly 10,000 newly registered in the past year alone—a number expected to surge in the coming years as the country eyes the top spot on the continent.
Throughout the ICT Africa Summit, participants will engage with government officials, angel investors, and tech pioneers through curated business matchmaking, pitching sessions, and collaborative forums.
