ALGIERS- In a move to strengthen Algerian-Italian cooperation, the Italian ambassador to Algeria, Giovanni Pugliese, inaugurated a pop-up consular branch in Tindouf on Tuesday. The branch will provide consular services in collaboration with VFS-Global, a company that specializes in visa processing.
This unique initiative, the first of its kind in Algeria, aims to improve and increase the offer of Italian consular services, even in the most remote areas of the country. The center will serve not only the local Algerian public and the Mauritanian business community but also Sahrawi refugees, thus avoiding long trips to Algiers.
Ambassador Pugliese expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it will benefit a wide range of people. The Little Ambassadors of Peace initiative, which aims to send a group of over 250 children, including disabled children, to Italy during the next summer holidays, will also benefit from this project. The children will be hosted by Italian associations and families engaged in humanitarian activities.
Italy plans to expand this innovative initiative to other cities in the country to ensure the implementation of the procedures provided for in the framework of the Little Ambassadors of Peace initiative. This project is a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between Algeria and Italy and improving the lives of those in remote areas.
