Algeria-Italy: A Historical Friendship and Rooted Relations with Promising Prospects
The Algeria-Italy relationship is characterized by historical friendship and deep-rooted ties built on transparency, free from disputes since ancient times. It is considered a model, as it is founded on mutual diplomatic respect between the two countries and shared economic interests.
The Algerian-Italian relationship traces back to the liberation revolution, where many Italian intellectuals and politicians with ideologies dedicated to freedom and peace expressed their support for the Algerian cause. The relationship endured even during challenging periods in Algeria, such as the “Black Decade,” as Italy maintained its ties, including the operation of the direct air route managed by the Italian company “Alitalia.” This persisted even after the financial difficulties Algeria faced in the early nineties.
The foundation of the relationship between the two countries is based on the legal principles outlined in the Charter of Friendship, Good Dialogue, Cooperation, reflecting the exceptional relations politically.
