Algiers, Algeria | July 7th, 2024 — The hospitality sector in the wilaya of Jijel has been significantly strengthened with the recent inauguration of three new hotels. These additions, situated in the provincial capital, collectively offer 367 rooms, thereby expanding the region’s accommodation capacity, as confirmed by the wilaya’s administrative services.
The new establishments include two hotels along the “Koutama” beach and one hotel in central Jijel, which has been reopened following extensive rehabilitation. Together, these facilities provide over 500 beds, alleviating the pressure on existing hotels and offering more options for tourists and visitors seeking to spend their holidays in Jijel.
Future Expansion
The wilaya’s services have announced that two more hotels are set to open in the coming days, followed by other hospitality projects slated to commence construction before the end of the year. This expansion will further increase the region’s accommodation capacity.
Bouabdellah Belouadi, Director of Tourism and Handicrafts for Jijel, informed the APS that the current accommodation capacity in the wilaya now stands at 3,000 beds. This number is expected to rise with the completion of several ongoing projects.
Economic Impact
Belouadi highlighted that the three newly inaugurated hotels, comprising a four-star establishment and two three-star establishments, have been developed through private investment. These ventures have also created approximately 100 jobs for local youth, contributing to the region’s economic growth and providing new employment opportunities.
