Algeria-Jordan: Roadmap for consolidation of bilateral economic cooperation signed, here are full details!

Algiers- Minister of Industry Ahmed Zaghdar and Jordanian Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yousef Al-Shamali, also Minister of Labour, signed a roadmap for the period 2023- 2025, with a view to consolidating economic cooperation between Algeria and Jordan.
The roadmap encompasses “the agreed cooperation activities and the mechanisms for its implementation in the short and medium term,” said a press release from the Ministry of Industry. The main points contained in the document relate to “the activation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, in particular the preparation of the work of the ninth session of the Algerian-Jordanian joint commission, to be held in Amman next June, the strengthening of the legal of bilateral cooperation and the strengthening of the role of sectoral technical committees and joint work teams”, specified the same source.
In order to promote trade exchanges and increase the volume of investments between the two countries, the roadmap provides for “the activation of the cooperation, trade and investment agreements concluded, the activation of the Council of business and the exchange of information on investment and foreign trade opportunities in the two countries,” the statement read. It also provides for the organization of meetings and mutual visits between economic operators and businessmen to examine the opportunities for cooperation and partnership in Algeria and Jordan and to encourage them to participate in exhibitions organized in the two countries.
In this context, it was agreed to schedule an exhibition of Algerian products in Jordan during this year. The two parties agreed to “continue the implementation and acceleration of cooperation projects, and to work to explore other priority areas, particularly in the sectors of industry, energy and mining, agriculture, transport, tourism, health, labor and social security and culture”.
“The document also provides for the implementation of partnership projects in several industrial sectors. In the industrial sector, the roadmap provides for the review of ways to realize partnership projects in the fields of manufacturing industries, building materials and electrical and electronic industries,” according to the press release. It is also a question of “the activation of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in the field of the development and construction of industrial zones between the National Agency for Intermediation and Land Regulation (ANIREF) and the Jordan Industrial Estates Corporation”.
The signing of this document, in the presence of several ministers from both countries, representing sectors, such as; Energy and Mines, Industry, Investment, Tourism, Culture and Labour, punctuates the visit of the Jordanian delegation.
During the delegation members’ meetings with Algerian ministers, “the two parties assessed the state of bilateral cooperation in various fields and discussed ways to raise the level of economic and trade exchanges and increase the flow of investments between the two countries”.
The roadmap signed, on Tuesday, is part of “the implementation of the recommendations of the meeting between the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the King of Jordan, Abdallah II Ben Al-Hussein and the realization of their common desire to furrtehr strengthen cooperation between Algeria and Jordan”.
In a statement to the press at the end of the signing of the roadmap, Mr. Zaghdar specified that “what was agreed during the visit made by the King of Jordan to Algeria last December to raise relations between the two country begins to materialize on the ground, after the bilateral meetings which brought together the ministers of the two countries”.
Meeting of the joint commission next June in Amman
This roadmap aims to “raise the level of relations between Algeria and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan”, he added, stressing that it “will be concretized during the meeting of the joint commission scheduled for next June in Amman, through the signing of several bilateral agreements in several areas, the revitalization of the Algerian-Jordanian Business Council created in 2017, the organization of fairs to promote products in the two countries and establish investments in various fields. With regard to the industrial sector, he indicated that the bilateral talks he had with his Jordanian counterpart focused on investment in the field of fertilizers, in addition to other sectors of agriculture, energy, tourism and labor.
For his part, Mr. Ashamaleh recalled that the orientations of the leaders of the two countries “were concretized during the visit of the Jordanian delegation to Algeria”.
As such, he reported on “the reopening of the airline provided by the company + Royal Jordanian + from March 9, at the rate of two flights per week”. The bilateral talks also made it possible to agree on the need to strengthen cooperation in various fields such as culture, tourism and industry,” he continued, stressing that these measures will contribute to consolidating the relations of friendship between the two sisterly countries. In conclusion, the Jordanian minister considered that “the achievement in record time of a large part of the orientations of the leaders of the two countries demonstrates the will and the high sense of responsibility of the leaders of the two countries, in the best interests of the two brotherly peoples “.
