Algeria, Mauritania Cement Strategic Ties with Unprecedented Leap in Bilateral Cooperation

Algiers, Algeria | February 6th, 2025 — Algeria and Mauritania have reached an unprecedented milestone in their diplomatic and economic partnership, with Mauritanian Foreign Minister Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug commending the “exceptional leap” in bilateral cooperation between the two nations in recent years. The announcement came following his audience with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Thursday, during which he delivered a message from Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.

In return, Minister Ould Merzoug conveyed President Tebboune’s warm regards to his Mauritanian counterpart, reinforcing the deep bonds of fraternity between the two nations.

The Mauritanian minister also expressed his gratitude to President Tebboune for his recent visit to Nouakchott, where he played a pivotal role in the Continental Conference on Education, Youth, and Employability. His participation was widely recognized as a demonstration of Algeria’s unwavering support for regional development and youth empowerment.

Ould Merzoug further relayed President El Ghazouani’s resolute commitment to expanding and deepening bilateral cooperation with Algeria, particularly in key sectors such as trade, infrastructure, and energy.
