ALGIERS- Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, held extensive discussions on Tuesday with Bakary Yaou Sangare, Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is on a working visit to Algeria.

According to a statement from the ministry, the lengthy talks “centered on evaluating the cooperative ties between the two countries across various sectors, notably the Trans-Saharan road, given its role in breaking isolation and fostering development across the entire Sahel region.”

Furthermore, the diplomatic leaders of both nations, as the statement added, reviewed the evolving situations in the region, with special attention to the crisis in Niger. The Nigerien minister commended Algeria’s support in assisting his country in overcoming the current crisis.

The Trans-Saharan road project holds strategic importance in linking North and West Africa, contributing to regional economic integration and development. The talks between the two foreign ministers signify the commitment of Algeria and Niger to strengthen collaboration for the mutual benefit of both nations and the broader Sahel region.
