Algeria/Oman: Minister Arkab Meets with Abraj Energy Services CEO, Omani Business Delegation

Algiers, Algeria | June 12th, 2024 — The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, hosted a meeting in Algiers on Wednesday with Saif bin Saïd Al-Hamhami, the President and CEO of Abraj Energy Services from Oman, accompanied by a delegation of Omani businessmen. This visit coincided with their participation in the 8th session of the Algerian-Omani Joint Commission and the Business Forum, aimed at enhancing bilateral economic ties.
The Ministry of Energy and Mines highlighted in a statement that “Minister Mohamed Arkab received Saif bin Saïd Al-Hamhami, President and CEO of Abraj Energy Services, along with a delegation of Omani businessmen who are on a working visit to Algeria as part of their participation in the 8th session of the Algerian-Omani Joint Commission and Business Forum held on Wednesday.”
During the meeting at the ministry headquarters, discussions focused on bilateral cooperation relations and strategies for further development. Specifically, talks addressed ongoing negotiations between Algeria’s Sonatrach Group and Abraj Energy Services in the hydrocarbon sector. This includes the exploration of cooperation opportunities in exploration, development, well maintenance activities, as well as complementary project services, technical expertise exchange, and specialized training in these fields, as outlined in an April 2024 memorandum of understanding.
The parties also explored potential cooperation projects in mutually beneficial areas such as petrochemicals, crude oil marketing, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and new renewable energies like hydrogen, aiming to leverage each other’s strengths in these critical sectors.
Minister Arkab reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and investment opportunities between the two brotherly nations. He encouraged Omani companies to seize investment and partnership opportunities available in Algeria’s energy and mining sectors, both domestically and across Africa.
