In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry declared this decision as a reflection of Algeria’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate struggle against “barbaric Zionist aggression.”
The ministry underscored that this action aligns with Algeria’s enduring commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, emphasizing the efforts led by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s administration. By postponing these festivals, Algeria aims to amplify its condemnation of the abhorrent massacres and genocidal actions perpetrated against the besieged Palestinian population. Furthermore, the ministry indicated that adjustments would be made to other cultural and intellectual activities to reinforce this position of solidarity with Palestine. This includes enhancing cultural events that celebrate local popular cultures and emphasize the constants of Algeria’s national identity.
