ALGIERS- Algeria has made a significant diplomatic stride by introducing a drzft resolution at the United Nations Security Council, advocating for the admission of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations, as reported by APS on Wednesday.
This action signifies the culmination of diplomatic efforts led by Algerian diplomacy under the guidance of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with the aim of securing widespread support for Palestine to attain full UN membership.
Scheduled for a vote on Thursday, April 18th, at 3 p.m. (New York time), the draft resolution is now poised for the final stage of consideration by Security Council members.
The Arab group in New York promptly expressed staunch backing for Palestine’s UN membership bid, stressing the long-awaited nature of this initiative and urging Security Council members to vote in favor of Algeria’s resolution. They emphasized that UN membership for Palestine is a crucial step towards achieving a just and enduring resolution to the Palestinian conflict in accordance with international law and pertinent UN resolutions.
