Algiers, Algeria | May 21, 2024 — During a working visit to the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Algerian Minister of Energy, Mr. Mohamed Arkab, reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to supporting the country in its electrification projects through the state-owned company Sonelgaz.
In a meeting with Congolese Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Mr. Émile Ouosso, held this Tuesday in the Congolese capital, Mr. Arkab discussed bilateral relations in the presence of CEOs from Sonatrach, Sonelgaz, the National Agency of Mining Activities, the director of the Algerian Institute of Petroleum, and ministry officials.
According to a statement from the Algerian ministry, discussions focused on the relations between the two countries and the opportunities for developing these partnership relations. Areas of cooperation include electricity production, transportation, transformation, and distribution, as well as the maintenance and production of electrical equipment and training.
Mr. Arkab commended the convergence of views between the two countries regarding economic and sustainable development. He affirmed that Algeria is ready to support Congo-Brazzaville in its electrification projects through Sonelgaz. This cooperation includes the transfer of knowledge and experience, particularly in engineering and studies for the development of electrical networks, as well as the development of renewable and solar energies.
This initiative underscores Algeria’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral relations with Congo-Brazzaville and to significantly contributing to the improvement of the country’s energy infrastructure, thereby promoting sustainable and inclusive economic development.
