ALGIERS- During the 11th session of the Algerian-Russian Joint Commission for Economic, Commercial, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation in Moscow, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Abdelhafid Henni, engaged in several official meetings. Notably, he held a bilateral meeting with Alexander Kozlov, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment.
This meeting, attended by high-ranking officials, delegations from both countries, and the Algerian ambassador to Russia, aimed to discuss various matters of mutual interest and explore partnership opportunities. The focus was primarily on strengthening and expanding cooperative ties, particularly in the fields of water, water resources, and forests.
During the meeting, Minister Henni showcased Algeria’s pioneering experience in protecting and developing forest resources through a socio-economic approach known as the “green dam.” This approach aims to promote the recovery and sustainable development of forest wealth. The Algerian Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development highlighted this achievement in a press release.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed the need to enhance collaboration in renewable energy, considering the challenges posed by climate change and the importance of sustainability.
Additionally, discussions were held on ways to bolster scientific research cooperation in areas of shared interest.
By fostering cooperation in water and forest conservation, Algeria and Russia aim to strengthen their bilateral ties and contribute to global efforts in environmental sustainability.
