Algeria Signs Strategic Agreement to Promote Entrepreneurship Among Vocational Training Graduates

Algiers, Algeria | February 8th, 2025 — Algeria has taken a significant step in fostering entrepreneurship among vocational training graduates by signing a framework agreement aimed at enhancing entrepreneurial skills and supporting project holders. The signing ceremony took place in Algiers on Saturday, bringing together the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid, and the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises,  Noureddine Wadah.

This strategic agreement seeks to reinforce coordination between the two ministries to empower vocational training graduates, equip them with entrepreneurial competencies, and provide structured support for aspiring business owners. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Oualid emphasized that the agreement encompasses several key initiatives, including the introduction of specialized training programs highlighting the self-employment system and the establishment of Entrepreneurship Development Centers within national vocational training institutes. These centers will play a pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurial talent, enhancing skills, and facilitating the transformation of vocational graduates into successful entrepreneurs.

The minister also announced the upcoming “Olympiad of Professions,” an ambitious initiative set to take place before the end of 2025. This event aims to stimulate healthy competition among participants, uncover hidden talents, and foster excellence among vocational trainees.

For his part, Minister  Wadah underlined that the agreement aligns with Algeria’s broader strategy to support project holders and promote a dynamic knowledge-based economy. He stressed that this initiative will provide concrete mechanisms to assist vocational graduates in launching and developing micro-enterprises, as well as benefiting from Algeria’s evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem.

With this agreement, Algeria is reinforcing its commitment to building a robust entrepreneurship culture, diversifying the economy, and creating sustainable employment opportunities—a move that reflects the government’s long-term vision for economic modernization and youth empowerment.
