Algeria Strongly Denies Allegations of Mali Initiative

ALGIERS- Algeria has categorically denied baseless claims circulated by a purported site of the Sahel States Alliance regarding an alleged Algerian initiative to address the crisis in Mali. The claims suggested that Algeria introduced provisions related to the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement for Mali, stemming from the Algiers process, into the final document of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Kampala.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad refuted these unfounded allegations, emphasizing that the Algerian delegation did not initiate such actions. The statement clarified that the language in the final document regarding the Malian crisis was adopted during the NAM ministerial meeting in Baku, and Algeria had no role in its formulation.
The Ministry emphasized that the language in question is the exclusive stance of the Non-Aligned Movement, and Algeria did not intervene in its creation at any point. This strong denial aims to counter misinformation and uphold the integrity of Algeria’s diplomatic engagements.
