Algiers, September 25, 2023 – Algeria has ushered in a new era of diplomacy and economic collaboration with its African neighbors, Mauritania and Senegal, with the official opening of permanent exhibitions showcasing Algerian products. This landmark initiative, driven by the visionary leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, underscores Algeria’s commitment to fostering mutual growth and prosperity in Africa.
In a historic move, Algeria has set the stage for strengthened bilateral relations with Mauritania and Senegal, signaling its intent to play a more active role in the development and progress of the African continent. The inauguration of permanent exhibitions in Nouakchott and Dakar, affiliated with the Algerian Company for Exhibitions and Exports, signifies a monumental step in Algeria’s outreach to the African nations.
These permanent exhibition spaces, showcasing a diverse range of Algerian products, are poised to invigorate trade relations between Algeria and its West African counterparts, Mauritania and Senegal. Furthermore, they serve as a catalyst for fostering economic cooperation with other African countries.
Approximately 60 Algerian economic operators will utilize these permanent exhibition spaces to demonstrate Algeria’s capabilities and explore potential partnerships with African nations. This initiative reflects Algeria’s commitment to moving beyond mere rhetoric and taking concrete action to deepen ties with African countries.
Tayeb Zitouni, Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, who personally oversaw the inauguration of the exhibitions in Nouakchott and Dakar, hailed this milestone as a “historic achievement.” He emphasized that Algeria is transitioning from words to deeds in its pursuit of a more engaged and open relationship with African nations.
During Minister Zitouni’s visit, a mixed committee was established with the vital task of examining customs and tax facilitation measures and eliminating trade barriers between Algeria and Mauritania. This move highlights Algeria’s dedication to ensuring smooth trade operations and fostering economic integration with its African partners.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s strategic vision to strengthen Algeria’s ties with the African continent is not only a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering development in Africa but also marks a significant turning point in the nation’s foreign policy. As the permanent exhibitions begin to flourish, they are poised to become vibrant hubs of economic exchange, innovation, and partnership, further solidifying Algeria’s role as a key player in Africa’s economic landscape.
The permanent exhibitions in Nouakchott and Dakar not only symbolize Algeria’s intent to deepen its connections with its African neighbors but also hold the promise of unlocking new opportunities for economic growth and development across the continent. Algeria’s proactive engagement in Africa is a shining example of diplomacy through economic cooperation, a paradigm that promises to reshape the region’s future.
