ALGIERS- During a press briefing addressing Algeria’s diplomatic initiatives concerning various issues, Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf once again discussed the ongoing situation in the Sahel region.
Attaf affirmed that Algeria “does not remain passive in response to the events occurring in this region” and that it “fulfills its obligations and fully accepts its responsibilities to ensure peace and security in the area.”
Algeria Advocates for Political Resolution
Highlighting Algeria’s endeavors, the Algerian Foreign Minister emphasized that “our nation continues to engage in consultations regarding the developments in the region to steer the situation back toward stability.”
Attaf reiterated Algeria’s preference for a political solution to restore peace and stability to the region. “Algeria has consistently advocated for a political resolution to address issues in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso,” he stated, underscoring that “the worsening situation in this region, both politically and economically, necessitates vigilance and intensified efforts.”
