Algiers, Algeria | May 29, 2024 — Algeria is set to commence the production of the seasonal flu vaccine, with preparations entering the final stages. This development was highlighted during a meeting on Tuesday between Ali Aoun, the Minister of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Mohamed Kandil, the representative of Abbott Products Algeria, and the Deputy Director-General of the Saïdal Group.
According to a statement from the ministry, Minister Aoun received a detailed briefing on the project and emphasized the urgency of accelerating vaccine production. The goal is to ensure that the national market is adequately supplied by the end of August.
Minister Aoun stressed the importance of timely delivery, urging all parties involved to avoid any delays. This proactive approach aims to ensure that the vaccine is available to the public well before the flu season peaks, thereby enhancing public health preparedness and response.
The partnership between Abbott Products Algeria and the Saïdal Group is expected to leverage local expertise and infrastructure to meet the country’s vaccine needs.
