ALGIERS- The President of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority (ARH), Rachid Nadil, said, on Sunday, that three investors have started to manufacture industrial oils in Algeria, in a way that will put an end to the import of these oils, reported the National Radio.

He indicated that “Algeria’s gasoline production capacity amounts to 4 million tons, while consumption is estimated between 3.3 and 3.4 million tons. Diesel consumption, on its part, exceeds 10 million tonnes.”

The same official noted that “the current investment of Sonatrach in diesel will allow Algeria to increase the production capacity, exceeding the level of consumption”.

And to add: “We consumed 17.7 million tonnes of oil resources in 2022, an increase of 3% compared to 2021. In addition, 15.7 million tonnes of fuel were consumed, of which 10.01 million tonnes of diesel, an increase of 4% compared to 2021”.
