Algeria to Host 4th Edition of Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF): Algeria, Economic Destination of Africa in 2025

ALGIERS- Algeria is set to host the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in September 2025, solidifying its position as a driving force for development in Africa and a pioneering advocate for economic integration across the continent.
Speaking after the signing ceremony for the agreement to organize the IATF in Algiers, attended by Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui, Minister of Commerce and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, highlighted Algeria’s economic program focused on Africa. This program includes various infrastructure projects and initiatives aimed at fostering economic and trade exchanges, such as the opening of Algerian banks and national production fairs in several African countries.
Export Value of $2.7 Billion
Zitouni noted Algeria’s exports to the African continent, totaling $2.7 billion, including $650 million from non-hydrocarbon exports. The upcoming edition of the IATF in Algiers is part of Algeria’s strategy to strengthen African integration and promote economic cooperation among African nations, aiming to establish a robust economic foundation for sustainable development and the well-being of African peoples.
Algeria’s extensive economic reforms have borne fruit, with a positive trade balance and increasing non-hydrocarbon exports reflecting economic diversification across various sectors.
Expanding Investment Domains
Algeria’s selection to host this significant continental economic event underscores its infrastructure, logistical capabilities, and organizational readiness to successfully host the IATF. Minister Zitouni asserted that this edition of the IATF will establish Algeria as the economic destination of Africa in 2025, serving as an effective tool to enhance intra-African trade cooperation and expand investment domains across Africa.
Positioned at the crossroads of three continents – Africa, Europe, and Asia – Algeria’s strategic geographical location facilitates trade exchanges, positioning it as a key economic hub in the region. Additionally, Africa’s inherent strengths contribute to the establishment of a strong economy integrated into global value chains. Minister Zitouni emphasized that intensified economic activities among African countries are essential for realizing this vision.
Furthermore, the Executive Vice President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) affirmed Algeria’s significant contribution to strengthening continental partnership and cooperation. The IATF will provide opportunities to support African businesses, particularly small and medium enterprises, across various sectors, including manufacturing, raw materials, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
Investment Forum and Automobile Exhibition
Organized by Afreximbank in partnership with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, the biennial IATF aims to increase intra-African trade and showcase investment opportunities across the continent. The Algiers edition will feature a wide participation of production and service companies, alongside an investment and trade forum highlighting Africa’s potential for economic integration.
Various events will take place during the IATF, including a fair of creative and cultural industries, bilateral business meetings, and the African Automobile Show alongside an automotive industry forum. Additionally, a digital trade fair will be held on virtual platforms.
The IATF program includes a dedicated day for the African diaspora to explore opportunities for enhancing their contribution to development on the continent and strengthening communication between the diaspora and their homeland. Organizers anticipate that the Algiers edition will be the most significant in terms of participation, impact, and the realization of commercial partnership agreements compared to previous editions.
